Purpose

Hospital

St. James Hospital was situated in the mesial of the Isle of Wight. It's one of the two operating health institutions in the island, the other being Mercy Falls. However, unlike Mercy Falls, St. James Hospital is a general hospital.

History[]

St. James Hospital, the main hospital on the Isle of Wight, had been preparing for the relocation of the patients at Mercy Falls to their wards, but the accident on the Island Line led to the remaining 10 beds at the hospital to be taken up by injured people from the accident, forcing the relocation to be stopped for the time being.

As events escalated at Mercy Falls, the entire hospital was collapsing and certain other paranormal events were taking place including the sudden intense fractures that were inflicted by the ghost of Charlotte Rivers, the emergency squad from St. James was summoned, helping the hospital to evacuate, although the squad along with the remaining management, faced certain paranormal complications. The remaining survivors and children were then relocated to St. James. Amy Nicholls was fatally injured in the evacuation but was saved from a kiss of love from the spirit of Maggie Reynolds. Amy Nicholls is then recovered and is seen in one of the rooms in the hospital alongside Kerry Robert and later, the spirit of Maggie Reynolds, glaring at an ailing woman.

The hospital is named after St. James, James the son of Zebedee and his brother John were among the twelve disciples of Lord. They, together with Peter, were privileged to behold the Transfiguration, to witness the healing of Peter's mother-in-law and the raising of the daughter of Jairus, and to be called aside to watch and pray with Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane on the night before His death.

James and John were apparently from a higher social level than the average fisherman. Their father could afford hired servants, and John (assuming him to be identical with the "beloved disciple") had connections with the high priest. Jesus nicknamed the two brothers "sons of thunder", perhaps meaning that they were headstrong, hot-tempered, and impulsive; and so they seem to be in two incidents reported in the Gospels. On one occasion, Jesus and the disciples were refused the hospitality of a Samaritan village, and James and John proposed to call down fire from heaven on the offenders. On another occasion, they asked Jesus for a special place of honor in the Kingdom, and were told that the place of honor is the place of suffering.

Trivia[]

  • St. James Hospital is likely to be a stand-in for St Mary's Hospital, the Isle of Wight's main hospital, situated in the county town of Newport.
